The learning space is unique enough that students take on board new learning perspectives that they would not have previously had an encounter with. Continuing the discovery of how to make learning an individualised reality for students is the concept of creating opportunity for students to learn in environments that they are not constantly used to. The four walls of a classroom are restrictive and rather the classroom should be portable and flexible in its location.īeyond the four walls of the classroom is a learning space that involves excursions and incursions. Although furniture exists in the classroom, students should be able to do their learning however they like – whether that be sitting, standing or lying down. After coming to realise this I now want to be able to create a classroom that includes window light, proportioned displays, a seating arrangement that is group based with room for floor learning. I had no idea that the colour of displays and the sort of displays influenced the different genders is either a positive or negative way. My ‘aha’ moment then lies with setting up a classroom that includes the students by listening to their preferences. Often teachers create a classroom that is “pleasing”, but in reality, although they meant well, it is most likely only pleasing to their organisation style, rather than the student’s learning style. This week contained learning of the classroom and the school in relation to creating a learning environment that assists the direct learning style and preferred arrangements of students. Discussion produces productivity in engaging with the task given. Therefore I now believe strongly in the need to incorporate cooperative working, where students work in assisting one another and learning from each other – known as active learning. Student learning is highly associated with socio-cognitive development, where communication is key in consolidating and establishing new knowledge. The ‘aha’ moment is continual as I learn how to make learning involve each of the three and work with the style that would best cater to my class’ needs. After view research and creating a deeper understanding I can now say the difference is evident. I had believed that they were synonyms for each other. Learning about the difference of group, collaborative and cooperative was a major ‘aha’ moment in itself. Twitter can be a great online resource space for teachers to communicate and gain support for lesson planning and teaching procedures/approaches. Along with this moment was the other ‘aha’ moment that allowed me to view twitter in a different retrospect. My blog ‘The Modern Teacher’ came about with my intentions that this will be a resource for other teachers to use and access online learning not only for students but for themselves as well. However my ‘Aha’ moment struck when I realised that the e-space is a platform for teachers to communicate and professionally develop too. When I first thought about the ‘e-space’ I had assumed that it would concern students learning online and using technology as a flatworm/tool to help support their learning and exploration. A students learning environment is very much associated with their learning style, and therefore online, the classroom and outside the classroom are all learning environments that should not have restrictions to a child’s learning. Getting students to be apart of planning and making decision for lesson plans/topic areas is highly important in order to engage the learner. Having students take responsibility for their learning is a process in which allows for individualised learning. Through goal setting it leads to self-efficacy, which in a classroom can be a hard aspect to get students to understand. Self-reflection in associated with self-direction allows you to recognise what is important to you and what goals you want to achieve in order to build your way towards improvement and acquisition of new knowledge. These moments have been developmental to my understandings of the online world (closely related to PLNs) and to my future teaching practices.ĭuring this week it dawned on me that in order to make learning individualised to a persons needs and interests it is best facilitated through self-refection. ![]() From the beginning of undergoing EDFD459 right to the end (no doubt) there have certainly been many challenges, but at the same time there have been ‘aha moments’.

"We're in a three-game series for the NBA Finals," coach David Blatt said. Missing All-Stars Kevin Love and Kyrie Irving, the Cavs didn't have enough firepower, and their legs were heavy after playing three games in five days against a team that keeps coming in waves. "Sometimes, your offense just doesn't show up." "Offensively we were terrible," James said, noting the Cavs were 4-of-27 on 3-pointers. Smith missed all eight 3-point attempts and Cleveland's reserves combined to score seven points. They also got nothing from their bench as J.R. The Cavs shot just 2-of-18 from the field and were outscored 27-12 in the fourth quarter. Timofey Mozgov led Cleveland with 28 points and guard Matthew Dellavedova, again battling leg cramps after a hospital stay for dehydration, had 10. LeBron James scored 20 points - 21 under his average in the series - with 12 rebounds and eight assists, but Cleveland's megastar, who needed stitches to close a cut on his head sustained when he banged it into a camera in the first half, didn't score in the fourth quarter and couldn't do enough for the undermanned Cavaliers. That's what's been winning us games all year." It was just awesome to come out here and impose our will on both sides of the ball and play our brand of basketball. "We played desperate out there, man," Klay Thompson said. "Tonight we came in with the mentality that we had to win this game," Curry said. This wasn't desperation for the Warriors, but it was close, as none of the 32 teams which have fallen behind 3-1 in the Finals has won a title. ![]() Game 5 is Sunday night at Oakland's rambunctious Oracle Arena, where the teams split two overtime games last week. The Warriors faced a tough test on Thursday, and it won’t get much easier on Friday as they take on a Cavs team that has the East’s best home record.Stephen Curry, Andre Iguodala help Warriors knot Finals vs. The Cavs have held their opponents below 100 points 14 times this season and have won 13 of those games. Evan Mobley and Jarrett Allen provide plenty of rim protection, as the Cavs have the second best defensive rating (allowing 109.4 points per 100 possessions) and allow the fewest amount of points per game (107.1). But it’s on defense where the Cavs are most dangerous. Darius Garland is coming off a season-high 14-assist effort on Wednesday, and he’s one of two players in the NBA this season averaging at least 20 points and eight assists while shooting at least 39 percent on 3-pointers. With or without Mitchell, the Cavs are a much improved and deep team this season. The ninth leading scorer (28.4 ppg) in the NBA this season, Mitchell missed the team’s previous game – a down-to-the wire loss to the red-hot Grizzlies – on Wednesday with a strained left groin and is questionable for Friday’s matchup. One of the big storylines for Cleveland is the health of Donovan Mitchell. The Cavaliers have alternated wins and losses over the last two weeks and come into Friday’s matchup in fifth place in the Eastern Conference. Many labs already have (or are planning to install) enterprise systems that are crucial to the production side of their operations, such as Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) or Manufacturing Execution Systems (MES). A LIMS collects and shares data securely across sites in real-time, meaning everyone has access to all the data they need, instantly. If your organization spans multiple labs locally, regionally, or globally, you will likely benefit from data-sharing capabilities. Many LIMS have this capability in-built, enabling users to take readings and observations during processes and record them straight into the LIMS. It also captures the complete process history to demonstrate compliance. Process complianceĪ Laboratory Execution System (LES) guides analysts through each step of a method to ensure correct and accurate SOP execution. A LIMS enables you to map your workflows graphically to actual laboratory processes to automate decisions and actions, thereby reducing the need for user intervention. It can be challenging and time-consuming to connect your processes. Furthermore, a LIMS supports regulatory compliance to guidance documents including GxP, ISO 17025 and FDA 21 CFR Part 11. A LIMS makes this easier by securely tracking all data and metadata needed to support compliance. Many labs need to ensure they comply with internal and external regulations. Dashboards give you an overview of the lab’s status so you can appropriately determine timelines and resource projects. Lab health: View and manage all your lab resources. You can also schedule calibrations and maintenance, based on workload, to optimize uptime and resourcing - particularly during busy periods. Instrument management: Monitor instrument status in your lab.Monitor their use-by date and assign automatic reorder alerts for ultimate ease. Inventory management: Track where items such as reagents and consumables are located and the supply available. One core strength of a LIMS is its overall lab management capabilities, which fall into three broad categories: By managing all these processes, you can ensure sample integrity, data quality, and a proper chain of custody. It can also manage shipment, accessioning, and inventory processes. ![]() ![]() Sample management, accessioning and trackingĪ LIMS handles the sample tracking process from start to finish, but its capabilities go far beyond. In this blog, we focus on 10 key solutions that an ideal LIMS should offer, so you can consider the right options for your lab’s needs.ġ. What’s more, without a full understanding of what capabilities are available, you could be missing out on unlocking new efficiencies. Selecting the wrong LIMS can be a costly mistake if it is missing important features your lab needs, or customization is required to fit your workflows. But there are many LIMS solutions available, and with so many capabilities on offer, it can be daunting to figure out what your lab needs to thrive. Beyond data, it can also help you manage your lab processes efficiently, enabling greater productivity. Implementing a LIMS in your lab can be hugely beneficial to your workflow, helping track, store, and analyze the data generated by every process. Our first blog highlighted the benefits of a LIMS - here we look at what capabilities are available. ![]() In our new four-part blog series, we explore why you should implement a laboratory information management system (LIMS) in your lab, what factors you need to consider in the selection process, and how to plan your implementation. ![]() Open shapes are figures which are not continuous and are made up of line segments or curves which do not meet. Regardless of the size of the internal angles, their sum always adds up to 180 degrees.īefore shapes are classified into further separate structures, the basis of each structure is first determined by whether the shape is open or closed. These types of triangles are differentiated by the size of their angles and the length of the sides. There are different types of triangles like isosceles, acute angle, obtuse angle, equilateral, scalene, and right angle triangle among others. TriangleĪ triangle is a three-sided polygon with three vertices and three edges. It is an enclosed four-sided polygon that is closed. All the internal angles are equal at the vertices and meet at 90 degrees. Squares are similar to rectangles, but all its four sides are equal in length. This is an enclosed two dimensional figure that is four-sided where two opposite parallel sides are equal in length and all its interior angles meet at a right angle. The examples of objects that are circles are bangles, coins, wheels, some buttons, hula hoops, some plates, rings, discs, and coins among others. If a line is drawn across the circles through the center, that line will form the line of reflection symmetry of the circle. There are four basic types of shapes as discussed below: CirclesĪ circle is an enclosed two-dimensional shape in which the set of all the focal points in the plane is equidistant from the center point. Kids should remember that figures are geometric shapes that are combinations of lines, points, or planes that form a closed boundary. Thus, a lot of people may be confused by shape and figure definition. There are numerous types and dimensions used to classify different shapes. Buildings, toys, and cars – all have a certain shape representing them. Take an example of a pizza: as a whole, pizza is a circle, but once you dig in, you get pieces which are triangles. Everything in the surrounding consists of a specific type of shapes. It is basically any surface we see regardless of its size or color. Shape DefinitionĪ shape is a boundary or outline of an object or the physical appearance of anything. To get the volume or perimeter of an object you need to have basic knowledge on shapes to determine their type and the required formula. Shapes are like the parent roots of other major topics in math like volume, perimeter, length, and geometry. The only thing is that they may not have a deeper understanding of shapes, their names, and types in comparison to elementary and highschool kids. As early as before joining kindergartens, kids can be able to recognize and notice different types of shapes in the surrounding. Shapes are the base of math as almost every object in the world has a shape or a combination of different shapes. Math is a comprehensive subject that comprises numerous topics, and one of them is shapes. |
